The Ahmanson Theatre is the first stop on the War Horse National Tour, and is anticipated to be a great success. The evening will begin with a cocktail reception in Salon A of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, with heavy hors d’oeuvres and premium bar. Following a welcome and Q&A by a representative of the production, everyone will take a short walk over to the Ahmanson Theatre to experience the show from premium mezzanine seats.
Set in England, 1914, as World War One begins, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the cavalry and shipped from England to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, before finding himself alone in no man’s land. But Albert cannot forget Joey and he embarks on a treacherous mission to find him and bring him home.
This epic tale is both a highly inventive spectacle and powerfully moving drama, with one of the largest casts, over 30, ever assembled on the Ahmanson stage. War Horse comes alive with astounding animation by the Handspring Puppet Company’s characters. This odyssey of a boy and his horse, which took London and New York by storm, will now be the talk of Los Angeles.
