A Special Evening at San Francisco Opera’s La Bohème!

Guests will be treated to a special pre-performance wine and hors d’oeuvres reception in the War Memorial Opera House. During the reception, Chorus Director Maestro Ian Robertson will give guests a background on San Francisco Opera; its history, and insights into the production of La Bohème! Following the walk-around wine reception, guests will take their orchestra premium seats for the performance.

La Bohème is a journey to Paris in the 1840's that tells the tragic love story of artists who are trying to get by while living in crippling poverty. At the center of this microcosm of counter-culture are Rodolfo, a poet, and Mimi, a seamstress, who are helplessly in love with one another. The magnificent sets of the San Francisco Opera and the music of Giacomo Puccini make this a very special experience. The opera is sung in Italian with projected English translation.

Recipient of the 2012 San Francisco Opera Medal, Ian Robertson has been chorus director and conductor with San Francisco Opera since 1987, having prepared more than 300 productions for the Company.

Please Note: The running time of La Bohème is approximately 2 hours, 20 minutes with one intermission. This opera is great for families and first-time operagoers.
