This Inside Access from Chase Napa Harvest weekend will begin on Friday with a two-night stay at the newly renovated Napa Valley Marriott Hotel and Spa. On Friday evening, join celebrated chef, author and restaurateur Cindy Pawlcyn for a harvest-inspired dinner at Mustards Grill. Cindy will host a private reception and four-course meal featuring a selection of items from the Mustards Grill garden. Each course will be paired with wine. A pioneer in the development of wine country cuisine, Cindy Pawlcyn is the owner of three of Napa Valley’s beloved restaurants. Cindy will visit with guests throughout the evening and be available for photos.
Your harvest experience continues at Schweiger Vineyards, a boutique family owned-and-operated vineyard and winery. Guests will be assigned Saturday and Sunday to be hosted in small groups by father and son winegrowers, Fred and Andy Schweiger, for this rare hands-on opportunity to pick and stomp your own grapes! Since 1961, the Schweiger Family has been farming their private Spring Mountain Estate, located 2,000 ft. above the small town of St. Helena. Wine production began in 1994, and they now produce approximately 5,000 cases of award winning wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Dedication®.
Fred and Andy will take guests in teams into the vineyard for an informative conversation, and then guests will pick grapes, measure “brix” (sugar), and learn about the nuances of making fine wine. Then guests will stomp grapes with their bare feet, just as wine was traditionally made in the past. The grape stomp will be followed by a tasting from barrels aging in the wine cellar and a casual lunch on the terrace overlooking the vineyard. Lunch will include a selection of Schweiger favorites as well as library vintages.
On Saturday night, Jean-Charles Boisset will host a very special and elegant private dinner at Raymond Vineyards. Jean-Charles leads a family collection of wineries in France and California that share more than 18 centuries of combined winemaking heritage and tradition. In 2009 Jean-Charles’ quest for California wineries with a sense of history, heritage and a pioneering spirit, led him to Raymond Vineyards in the Napa Valley, where five generations of family winemaking anchors it to the earliest days of the Napa Valley.
Your evening at Raymond Vineyards will begin with a reception in the Red Room Lounge, followed by dinner in the Crystal Cellar – surrounded by stainless steel fermentation tanks and Baccarat chandeliers. Jean-Charles and Raymond’s Chef Michel Cornu will take guests through a culinary journey with a four-course menu paired alongside Raymond Vineyard’s wine. The evening will highlight the organic and biodynamic ingredients sourced from Raymond’s Theater of Nature garden, signature wines from Jean-Charles’ personal label, JCB by Jean-Charles Boisset and library wines from the Boisset Collection.
