Fondly referred to as Mr. Chocolate, Jacques Torres is the authority on all things related to this confectionery delight. Through his early years as a master pastry chef, Jacques developed a deep affinity and passion for chocolate.
Jacques will host Inside Access from Chase guests for this decadent experience. The evening will begin with a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception in his flagship store, Jacques Torres Chocolate. Guests will be divided into small groups to enjoy hands-on chocolate making and tours next door at the newly opened Choco-Story NY The Chocolate Museum.
There will be four chocolate experiences taking place throughout the evening and plenty of sampling. Jacques will offer a hands-on chocolate making session, where guests will create and top their own chocolate bar. Guests will take photos with Jacques and he’ll share his chocolate journey from France to New York City. Frederick Wildman and Sons, Ltd. will also be on hand to host a chocolate and wine pairings experience including a sampling of Jacques’ specialty bon bons paired with wines: Castello Monaci "Artas" Old-Vine Primitivo Salento IGT 2013, Lamberti Rose Veneto IGT NV, Churchill’s 10 Years Old Tawny Port, and La Linda Torrontés 2016.
Jacques’ team will offer demonstrations of his signature bon-bons and guided tours through Choco-Story NY The Chocolate Museum. The new family-friendly museum regales the history of cacao and chocolate by telling the story of its origin and evolution through authentic artifacts from the Mayan and Aztec civilizations to nineteenth-century Europe and present day.
The five thousand square foot Choco-Story NY The Chocolate Museum and Experience with Jacques Torres is a partnership between Jacques and Eddy Van Belle, chocolate aficionado and founder of four other Choco-Story museums around the world, from Belgium to Uxmal.
Jacques Torres has received numerous awards over the years including The James Beard Pastry Chef of the Year Award in 1994, and was inducted in The James Beard Who’s Who of American Food & Beverage Award in 2003. Additionally, since 1993 Jacques proudly serves as Dean of Pastry Arts at the award-winning International Culinary Center.
At the end of this chocolate-filled evening, guests will take home a pre-signed copy of one of Jacques' books and of course, a sweet surprise!
