Proclaiming the continuation of Southern Creole cuisine in Houston—with its ongoing influx of countless cultures, rich history and impeccable proximity to farming, ranching and fishing—Chef Chris Shepherd presents his Underbelly as a dining concept where the menu is constantly in flux based on what is seasonally available and fresh.
Your evening begins with a reception with special wine-based cocktails as Owner and Executive Chef Chris Shepherd welcomes you to Underbelly. Like all the weekly menus here, your multi-course meal will seek to tell the story of Houston's rich culinary tradition with refined dishes that exemplify the city's beginnings as a port town, and through its Creole roots took its place as a diverse, modern city. Chef Shepherd will provide introductions and tasting notes for each course, allowing you to learn and appreciate the painstaking efforts taken to create the flavorful, inspired courses. In addition to seasonally available ingredients, Underbelly utilizes sustainable, by-catch seafood and an extensive, in-house butchering and charcuterie program to further celebrate a passion for handmade Southern food—a passion that is noticeable in every delicious bite.
